At Wabusk Data Solutions, we are committed to ethical, transparent, and responsible use of technology—including emerging tools like artificial intelligence (AI).
We want to be clear that we have used AI-assisted tools to support the development of this website, including generating content drafts, organizing ideas, and refining layouts. All AI-supported content has been reviewed, edited, and aligned with our voice, values, and intent.
We will never use AI to analyze or develop supports that involve sensitive, cultural, or personal information, especially in contexts that may risk harm to individuals or communities. Stories and data shared with us are treated with the utmost care, and we honour our responsibility to protect them.
We also acknowledge the environmental impacts of AI technologies, particularly the energy consumption and extractive practices associated with large-scale data centers. As AI continues to grow rapidly, we remain concerned about the ethical, ecological, and social implications of this expansion—especially when it happens without consent or accountability.
We are still exploring what it means to be in good relation with AI—both as a business and as individuals. As we learn and grow, we remain grounded in Indigenous values, sovereignty, and relational responsibility.
If you have questions, reflections, or concerns about how AI is used in our work, we welcome the conversation. Transparency is just one part of trust—and we are committed to both.
At Wabusk Data Solutions, we understand that reconciliation is not a single act or checklist—it is relational. It is a way of being, of walking through the world in a way that generates trust through our relationships with Indigenous peoples and communities. Reconciliation is accomplished through sustained, accountable action that reflects respect, reciprocity, and responsibility.
We acknowledge that we live and work on the lands of diverse Indigenous Nations—lands taken and governed without consent, through colonization, forced displacement, and systemic oppression that continue to cause harm today.
We also recognize that the language and work of "reconciliation" is often exploited—used to uphold settler institutions or for symbolic gain without meaningful change. We reject this approach.
Our work is rooted in the truth that Indigenous Nations have inherent rights to their lands, data, stories, and futures. We honour these rights by committing to relationship-based, anti-colonial, and ethically grounded practices.
This work is also deeply personal.
One of our co-founders is a First Nations man whose grandparents are residential school survivors. Their stories—of survival, strength, and resistance—are not history to us, but living memory. Their experiences ground our purpose and remind us that reconciliation is not an abstract concept; it’s a daily responsibility, a legacy we carry forward with care, humility, and determination. We are here because they endured. We walk with their teachings and in their honour.
Our Commitments:
This is lifelong work. We are not perfect—but we are committed to walking in good relations, to listening deeply, to unlearning, and to building systems that honour Indigenous sovereignty and uphold responsibilities to one another.
