What is Indigenous Data Sovereignty?
Indigenous Data Sovereignty is the right of Indigenous Peoples to govern the collection, ownership, and use of their own data. It’s about communities having control over their information, in ways that reflect their values, laws, and priorities.
Do you only work with Indigenous organizations?
No — we work with both Indigenous nations, agencies, and non-Indigenous companies committed to meaningful Reconciliation. Our services are tailored to fit the needs and responsibilities of each client.
What is ReconciliACTION Planning?
It’s about moving beyond words into action. We help organizations develop actionable reconciliation plans, Indigenous data policies, training, and community engagement protocols that reflect real commitment and accountability.
Why is privacy so important in Indigenous child and family wellbeing?
The Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA) Part X came into force outlining privacy compliance requirements for all service providers under the legislation. But beyond compliance, the data these agencies hold is personal, sacred, and historically misused against Indigenous families. Privacy frameworks built on Indigenous principles help protect families, honour cultural values, and build safer systems of care.
What’s the difference between privacy and data sovereignty?
Privacy is about protecting personal information. Data sovereignty is about who has the right to own, control, and govern data. For Indigenous communities, it’s about reclaiming control of their data to protect identity, stories, and futures. They are unique but highly interconnected.
Do you offer cybersecurity services yet?
Not quite — but we’re actively building capacity to offer these services. Keep your eyes peeled on our socials!
Do you offer workshops and training in person?
Yes, we offer both virtual and in-person trainings and workshops on a variety of topics. In person is recommended for some of our sessions in order to get the most of the experience. However, we understand that many work remotely across vast geographic areas and that in person sessions may be less affordable and so can accommodate virtual as well.
How does your work reflect my community’s culture?
Our “out of the box” templates and assessments are grounded in our Governance Framework 'Circle' and approach embodies the Seven Grandfather Teachings and the cultural teachings we’ve received. However, when we work with an Indigenous Nation we spend significant time sitting with community to understand your unique culture, teachings, and protocols that will apply to the work we’re doing. We ensure that everything we provide for you is grounded in your community values and reflective of your people.
What sets you apart from other consulting firms? Isn’t this just another consulting business with a niche?
We’re not just consultants — we’re community members, advocates, and change agents. We bring lived experience, cultural fluency, and deep knowledge of both Western systems and Indigenous governance. Unlike most firms, we design everything to fit within Indigenous worldviews — not the other way around. And we never approach communities with a cookie-cutter solution. We’re not just filling a niche — we’re challenging a norm. Most consulting businesses push Western frameworks onto Indigenous communities. We do the opposite: we build tools with communities, not for them, and we start with cultural values, not compliance checklists. Our work is rooted in sovereignty, not sales. That’s not a niche — that’s a movement.
What if clients can’t afford your services?
We’re building flexible pricing models and seeking grants so we can offer scaled or sponsored services when needed. We also believe in building long-term relationships — sometimes that means starting with training or resource sharing and growing into larger partnerships. Our business model includes both high-value consulting and affordable community tools.
What if a major company wants to work with you but won’t change their colonial practices?
Then they’re not the right partner for us. We’re not in this for prestige or profit alone — we’re here to create meaningful change. If a client isn't willing to shift their mindset or take accountability, we won’t move forward. That’s a non-negotiable. Our business is built on values, not volume.
