Family-Centered
Family always comes first. Our business is built on creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for children and recognizing the importance of family responsibilities in every part of life and work.
Humility
You are the expert in your own needs, values, and experiences — we’re here to listen, learn, and help translate those into action. We embrace being human, acknowledging that mistakes can happen, and we commit to owning them, learning, and growing.
Integrity
We hold ourselves to high standards, delivering consistent, reliable services that people can trust. Through transparency, accountability, and follow-through, we ensure our work aligns with the expectations we set and the values we live by.
Active
We believe in action over words. Passive allyship has no place here — every decision, service, and partnership we take on reflects our active commitment to advocating for Indigenous rights, human rights, and the protection of our planet.
Community Impact
We are always mindful of how our actions affect Indigenous communities and all of Turtle Island. We actively look for ways to support, uplift, and give back to Indigenous Peoples, ensuring our work leaves a positive and lasting impact.
Relational
Our work is guided by the Seven Grandfather Teachings and grounded in relationships, not transactions. Every service we offer is built from a place of connection, respect, and responsibility to those we work with.
These are our non-negotiables. The promises we make to ourselves, to our families, to our communities, and to the people we work with. If you’re with us — you’re with these too.
No Colonizer Mindset
We are not a check box. We expect visible, meaningful, and accountable action toward reconciliation. If your words, decisions, or business practices uphold control, erasure, or exploitation — we won’t be part of it.
No Performative Allyship
This isn’t for show. If your commitment to Indigenous communities or social justice is surface-level, we kindly but firmly step away.
Community Impact Comes First
Our work must serve Indigenous communities, families, and futures in real, tangible ways. If it doesn’t, we don’t.
Cultural Integrity Always
We will not engage with projects that tokenize, misuse, or commodify Indigenous knowledge, stories, or cultures. Protocols matter. Permission matters. People matter.
Protect Indigenous Data Sovereignty
Data is power. We stand by Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles in every decision. No exceptions, no negotiations.
Boundaries Are Sacred
We don’t glorify hustle culture. Our families, wellness, and off-time are non-negotiable. If you expect 24/7 availability* or can’t respect personal and cultural boundaries — this isn’t the space for you.
Respect is the Bare Minimum
We communicate with kindness, clarity, and respect — even when conversations are hard. Disrespectful, dismissive, or harmful communication ends the relationship. Full stop.
No Going to Bed Angry (in Business or Life)
We don’t believe in leaving tensions unresolved. If something’s off, we talk it through, with honesty and care. Our work is relational, not transactional.
No Exploitation of Indigenous Labour or Knowledge
We honour the value of Indigenous expertise, leadership, and stories with fair pay, proper credit, and reciprocal relationships.
Accountability Over Ego
We expect our partners to show up with humility. Mistakes happen — but accountability is required. If defensiveness outweighs responsibility, we’re not the right fit.
Ethical Tech Only
We won’t touch tech that harms, surveils, or exploits Indigenous peoples or other marginalized communities. Data should empower, not control.
We Build Like Beavers
Slow, steady, intentional, and together. Our work is about creating spaces that protect, uplift, and last for future generations. Quick fixes, extractive deals, and harmful shortcuts have no place here.
If this speaks to you — welcome. If not, we wish you well elsewhere.
*If you have hired our incident response services, we will be available and have contingencies to manage any major incidents when they occur.
At Wabusk Data Solutions, we are committed to honouring the diversity of Indigenous cultures, laws, and ways of being. We recognize that many Indigenous Nations have developed or are developing their own laws and governance frameworks, and that these assertions must guide any work involving their data.
In the absence of a community-defined framework, we have developed our own guiding approach - grounded in respect, responsibility, and relational accountability - to ensure our work remains principled and reflective of Indigenous data sovereignty.
This framework is not static. It is a living document, shaped by ongoing learning, community feedback, and the evolving landscape of Indigenous data governance. We will offer it here in the spirit of transparency, collaboration, and shared growth.
